For Immediate Release

NEW YORK – Women have long fought for a place in leadership roles, both in the church and in our communities. United Women in Faith, the United States’ largest denominational organization for women, is dedicated to uplifting and supporting women in doing so. Through annual scholarships the organization gives women opportunities that they otherwise could not access.

Thanks to these scholarships, women across the world have gained opportunities to further their education and become leaders in their communities. Below are some of our scholarship recipients. If you’d like to speak with any of the individuals below, please let us know.

  • Macy Storts studied at the Perkins School of Theology through 2025. She is now based in Auxvasse, Missouri, as the associate pastor of care and connection with Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
  • Mitchelle Mare graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work (honors) from Africa University in Zimbabwe in June 2025.
  • Mairo Anthony is a Nigerian theologian and storyteller. She will graduate with a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Theology and Religion at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, in 2026.

“Because of the support and generosity of United Women in Faith, I am now able to live out my God-given call to ministry through word, service, justice, and compassion,” said Storts. “Their support and generosity to a young woman they didn’t know gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams of becoming an ordained deacon in The United Methodist Church.”

“This support is not just for me; it is already rippling outward to bless my local community, the African church, the broader body of Christ, and even the global stage,” said Anthony. “With this scholarship, I am now nearing the completion of my Ph.D. at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. By God’s grace, I will continue to serve as a pastor and theological educator, and I remain steadfast in my commitment to amplifying the voice and vision of African women’s theology through academic and ministerial work.”
