The Chisholm Legacy Project and United Women in Faith invite you to join our Catalysts for a New Democracy program, a collaborative effort to empower rural communities by mobilizing volunteers. This innovative initiative aims to advance a just energy transition, self-determination, local self-reliance, and regenerative economies.

- Time: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Eastern (8 a.m. PT, 9 a.m. MT, 10 a.m. CT)
We’re seeking passionate individuals from the Southeast, Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest, particularly from rural and peri-urban communities, or those interested in traveling to these communities. If you’re committed to making a difference and willing to dedicate 4 hours to this training on July 12, we’d love to have you join us.
Certification
By committing to the full 4-hour training, you’ll receive certification as a Catalyst for a New Democracy volunteer. This training will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to support rural communities in advancing their energy transition, self-determination, and regenerative economies.
What to Expect
During this orientation and training, you’ll learn about the Catalysts for a New Democracy program, including its vision, core organizing principles, and practical skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to build relationships with fellow volunteers and the Chisholm Legacy Project team.
As a Catalyst for a New Democracy, you’ll be part of a movement to empower rural communities and support projects like:
- Community-owned clean energy microgrids
- Local food systems
- Emergency management systems
- Locally owned water systems
- Clean transit
- Local cottage industries and economic development projects
