NEW YORK – United Women in Faith today condemned political commentator Ann Coulter’s recent comments about Native Americans. It released the following statement, which can be attributed to Ragghi Rain, chairperson of The United Methodist Church’s Native American International Conference:

“At our most basic level, we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves. Ann Coulter’s hateful comments reflect a heart that is neither yielded to Christ or in pursuit of values of hope, faith, and love.

“The scripture teaches us that what comes out of our mouth is a reflection of what is in our hearts. Coulter’s comments add fuel to the fire of years of this nation’s history of genocide and erasure of First Nations people.

“As an organization committed to the uplift of women, children, and youth, we refuse to be silent in the face of hate speech. We refuse to cower at the feet of those who so diabolically oppose our faith values.

“In addition to raising our voices, we also pray for the healing and wellbeing of our Indigenous brothers and sisters, healing of the land, and healing of our country.”
