General Conference

Member nominee: Stephanie Dressler

Members of United Women in Faith put love into action every day to inspire, influence, and impact their churches and communities. Many of our members live out their faith by serving as leaders in The United Methodist Church. This year, 11 annual conferences are electing their delegates to General Conference, and members of United Women in Faith are stepping up to the call.

Meet Stephanie Dressler, a member of United Women in Faith at Johns Creek United Methodist Church in Johns Creek, Georgia. She’s held multiple positions in United Women in Faith and is currently a member of the United Women in Faith Board of Directors.

She has served on local and conference committees in the North Georgia Conference, and she is a candidate for delegate to the 2028 United Methodist General Conference.

What do you like most about being a member of United Women in Faith?

I love the sisterhood I experience constantly, our mission focus on women, youth and children, and learning about how we can advocate for those living in the margins.

Why are you running for General Conference delegate?

As a member of United Women in Faith, I’ve learned what it means to put faith into action—through service, advocacy, and the deep relationships we build with one another. This community has shaped my understanding of justice, compassion, and what it looks like to show up for women, children, and youth in meaningful ways.

I’m running because I want to carry those values into the wider connection. The decisions made at General Conference affect real ministries and real people, and I want to represent our conference with the same spirit of listening, learning, and love that I’ve experienced through United Women in Faith.

What are your hopes for the church?

I hope we continue our deep tradition of social engagement. From education and health care to disaster relief through groups like United Methodist Committee on Relief, the church continues to show up in tangible ways.

I also hope that after years of conflict—especially around human sexuality and governance—recent developments (including disaffiliations and restructuring discussions) may allow remaining congregations to move forward with more clarity.

The North Georgia Conference elects its delegates June 18-20. Keep Stephanie in your prayers!
