General Conference
Member nominee: Rosie Gaudarrama
Members of United Women in Faith put love into action every day to inspire, influence, and impact their churches and communities. Many of our members live out their faith by serving as leaders in The United Methodist Church. This year, 11 annual conferences are electing their delegates to General Conference, and members of United Women in Faith are stepping up to the call.
Meet Deaconess Rosie Guadarrama, a member of United Women in Faith at First United Methodist Church in Upland, California. She is a member of the California-Nevada United Women in Faith Committee on Nominations and has served on the national program advisory group. She’s also been a local president and vice president, and a district president. She is also a Certified Lay Minister.
Rosie is a nominee for the California-Pacific delegation to the 2028 General Conference.
What do you like about being a member of United Women in Faith?
I love that I have a support group in every corner of the United States. If I am in need, I have so many siblings willing to help. We pray, study, learn, share, and plan together. Each member is a friend, or a friend you have not yet met. While our hub is the United States, our work thunders worldwide; we are recognized by our caring hearts, and works everywhere.
Why are you running for General Conference delegate?
Throughout my years as a deaconess, Certified Lay Minister, and in a variety of roles from district to national, I have been blessed to serve in a wide sea of positions, an experience few have had. I feel that my eclectic journey places me in a unique position to help the greater church. It also helps to have a rich background in theology, cultural diversity, development. Along with 26 years experience as an arbitrator, these personal and learned experiences give me a different lens to ensure everyone is taken care of and the best is offered to all in a compassionate, respectful manner.
What are your hopes for the church?
I hope that we find our way through fairness, love and peace. May we be audacious in everything we do! I hope that we equip our younger generations to take over and that we live life as God intended, seeing the beauty in building a better world together with pieces of mosaic representing our uniqueness, strength and desire to live harmoniously.
California-Pacific elects its delegation June 17-20. Keep Rosie in your prayers!
